Mantis is a family run collection of award winning, privately owned, five star properties located around the World. Mantis is the only hotel group in the world with a presence on all seven continents. Officially founded by Adrian Gardiner in 2000, Mantis is committed to the spirit of conservation and restoration, and each property is sensitive to its surroundings in respect of the building, environment and local community. The company also offers consultancy services in other disciplines including conservation and education, which Worldwide Experience forms part of.
Mantis’ underlying philosophy is one of responsible and ecologically sensitive development and operations, supporting the local environment while conserving and maintaining all natural resources. Mantis recognises education as an important facet to the growth and ultimate success of the world’s youth for the future. Mantis continuously strives to maintain an ecological balance and also also aim to improve the socio-economic status of the various regions in which we operate.
The Community Conservation Fund Africa (CCFA) is a registered NPC whose founding sponsors are ACCORHOTELS / Mantis. These two hospitality companies recognise the urgent need for the tourism industry to play a greater role in conservation and community upliftment which will benefit Africa’s wild animals and wilderness at a time when both are under threat. Without Africa’s wildlife, wilderness and community involvement there will be no tourism industry in Africa, so this initiative has been created at the 11th hour both as an act of humanity and of pragmatism.
This grant-giving Foundation is registered in South Africa as a non-profit company and has uniquely brought together three internationally admired wildlife conservation organisations as its Founding members: Wilderness Foundation Africa, Tusk Trust and African Parks.
The CCFA acknowledges the key role played by rural communities and plans to establish a forum that serves as a platform for communities to participate and contribute directly to the discourse on development and biodiversity conservation.
The White Lion Foundation
The White Lion Foundation is a UK wildlife charity (TWLF) with an ambitious vision for the future of global wildlife conservation, aimed at world-class high-impact projects for the protection and welfare of wild animals. TWLF is dedicated to the support of scientific endeavour, and the engagement of communities through progressive education and awareness campaigns.
TWLF is fronted by some of the leading lights in Conservation and Animal Welfare; Adrian Gardiner, Shirley Galligan, Dr John Knight & SA based conservationist Brett Barlow.
Backed by a compassionate and highly skilled team our charity ethos is to work with integrity, kindness and dedication in our endeavours to protect wild animals.
Twenty years ago Africa was in the midst of a poaching crisis. Black rhino were on the brink of extinction (just 2,000 remained) and the African elephant population was being slaughtered at a rate of 100,000 each year, just for their ivory. Drastic times required urgent action. Tusk was established in response to an urgent need to halt the decline in Africa’s natural heritage and find a way to combine the interests of
people and wildlife alike. Tusk promotes the conservation of all African wildlife and particularly the protection of endangered species. Tusks holistic approach to conservation also recognises that the long-term future for wildlife is dependent on sustainable human development. At the end of 2005 Prince William announced his Royal Patronage to the charity.
The Wilderness Foundation forms part of a global network whose main aim is to protect wilderness areas. Recognising that the protection and sustainability of South Africa’s unique wilderness areas and natural heritage is dependent on socio-political and economic conditions within society, the Wilderness Foundation takes a holistic approach to implementing its mandate for conservation. Focusing on four main programme areas (Conservation; Social Intervention; Experiential Education and Advocacy & Awareness), the Foundation creates opportunities to encourage, plan and protect wild lands and wilderness, uplift the knowledge and lives of citizens and stimulate an environmental ethos among current and future leaders.
Helping Rhinos is a UK based charitable organisation dedicated to preventing the rhinoceros from becoming extinct. They aim to achieve this by focusing on two key areas, best summarised by our mission statement:
‘Creating awareness of the issues threatening the global rhino population and raising funds to help protect them for future generations’
Since 2008 the number of rhinos killed by poachers has increased by around 50% year on year. If this trend continues an animal which has walked on this planet for 50 million years will become extinct within the next 15 years. Helping Rhinos is committed to working in partnership with key strategic field projects that will make a difference in the fight against the poachers and ensuring all species of rhino can be enjoyed in their natural habitat by our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Born Free Foundation is a dynamic international wildlife charity, devoted to compassionate conservation and animal welfare. Born Free takes action worldwide to protect threatened species and stop individual animal suffering. Born Free believes wildlife belongs in the wild and works to phase out zoos. We rescue animals from lives of misery in tiny cages and give them lifetime care. Born Free protects lions, elephants, tigers, gorillas, wolves, polar bears, dolphins, marine turtles and many more species in their natural habitat, working with local communities to help people and wildlife live together without conflict. Our high-profile campaigns change public attitudes, persuade decision-makers and get results. Every year, Born Free helps hundreds of thousands of animals worldwide. Working together with the Born Free Foundation, Worldwide Experience volunteers have the opportunity to contribute to conservation by providing first-hand assistance to maintain the sanctuary. Every little helps and you can expect to get involved with anything from eradication of alien plant forms, to assisting the veterinary surgeon.
Shannon Elizabeth Foundation
The Shannon Elizabeth Foundation believes that the greatest achievements in conservation derive from cooperation and collective support for common goals. To this end, the Foundation is forging close associations with numerous renowned organizations around the world. The Foundation also has a grants program that supports reputable organizations through an application process. The Foundation also has a grants program that supports reputable organizations through an application process.
The roots of the Shannon Elizabeth Foundation reach back to 2001 in Los Angeles, California, when Shannon Elizabeth founded the non-profit Animal Avengers. By 2015, her awareness of broader conservation issues, particularly the developing poaching crisis in Africa, had grown to the extent that she wanted to help more animals and on a much bigger scale. This prompted her decision, in 2016, to settle in Cape Town, South Africa.
