Recognized internationally as a marine hotspot, it is now also known as the Bottlenose Dolphin Capital of the world, with about 28,000 of these beautiful creatures living here. Port Elizabeth’s beaches and the warm Indian Ocean offer ideal conditions for swimming, surfing, sailing and scuba diving.
Great value for money, this form of accommodation allows our students to live and socialise with other international students, and sometimes international volunteers and interns. Residences are usually cleaned once a week, while students are responsible for tidying their rooms, supplying their own meals and groceries and doing their laundry.
WiFi internet is available, there is a TV in each room and students share a kitchen, a swimming-pool and barbecue area
HOMESTAY & HOST FAMILY
Still the best form of accommodation, homestay allows maximised learning in comfortable surroundings. Our host families are carefully selected English-speaking families. Homestay includes a single room, shared bathroom, meals as specified, and laundry. bli also offers a unique township host family experience; we work with a Xhosa family in New Brighton township for a completely off-the-wall stay. Transport to school is by mini-bus taxi or bus along with students at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (around the corner from bli) and, while the family’s mother-tongue is not English, they use it as their day-to-day language of communication. Discover the warm heart of Africa!
