The conservation team conducted extensive research of the environment to determine the type of game that originally roamed the area. The team found that the area used to be incredibly diverse and was home to wild kudu, mountain reedbuck, common duiker, springbuck, red hartebeest, ostrich, rhino, cheetah, elephant, and eland. Reintroducing these animals to the area involved purchasing and rescuing animals from local game reserves and transporting them to the Nyosi Wildlife Reserve. The transportation of wild animals is a major task, with many factors to take into consideration.
Volunteers will work along-side game rangers with our projects that revolve around rewilding the reserve to include species that would have naturally occurred here. You will also be involved with monitoring our rewilding initiatives, habitat work, marine conservation, and community upliftment. This program is a unique and professional experience for individuals who want to make a true impact on wildlife conservation.
Situated on 3100ha of African bush, the Noysi Wildlife Reserve is a natural land parcel situated in the center of an urban development outside of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
